7 Habits of Holistically Healthy Leaders

As a coach, I believe in the power of holistic health, which means that we need to take care of our mind, body, and spirit to be truly healthy. This is especially important for leaders, who have to balance multiple responsibilities and navigate complex challenges on a daily basis. In my experience, there are seven habits that holistically healthy leaders practice consistently, which I call the “7 Habits of Holistically Healthy Leaders.” Let’s take a closer look at each one.

7 Habits of Holistically Healthy Leaders

Alignment: This habit is all about being clear on your purpose, values, and goals. When you are aligned with your true self, you are more focused, motivated, and resilient in the face of adversity. This habit involves taking time to reflect, journal, meditate, or seek guidance from a mentor or coach.

Spirituality: This habit is about connecting with a higher power or source of meaning, whether that’s through religion, nature, art, or meditation. Spirituality helps us to cultivate inner peace, gratitude, and compassion, which are essential qualities for effective leadership.

Relationships: This habit is about nurturing positive and supportive relationships with family, friends, colleagues, and community members. Healthy relationships provide us with emotional support, inspiration, and accountability, and they help us to build trust, collaboration, and empathy in our work.

Health: This habit is about taking care of our physical and mental health through regular exercise, nutritious food, restful sleep, and stress management techniques. When we prioritize our health, we have more energy, focus, and creativity to bring to our work and relationships.

Career: This habit is about pursuing meaningful and fulfilling work that aligns with our values and strengths. Holistically healthy leaders are not only successful in their careers, but they also find joy, purpose, and growth in their work.

Education: This habit is about continuous learning and personal development. Holistically healthy leaders are curious, open-minded, and willing to challenge their assumptions and beliefs. They seek out new knowledge, skills, and experiences to expand their perspective and enhance their leadership abilities.

Finance: This habit is about being responsible and mindful with our money, whether that’s through budgeting, saving, investing, or giving back to others. Holistically healthy leaders understand the value of financial stability and freedom, and they use their resources wisely to support their goals and values.

In conclusion, the 7 Habits of Holistically Healthy Leaders are essential practices for anyone who wants to lead with purpose, passion, and integrity. By cultivating these habits, we can create a more fulfilling and impactful life for ourselves and those around us. As a coach, I encourage you to schedule a call to better understand how to start incorporating these habits into your daily routine and see how they can transform your leadership and create “A Culture of Wellness” in your organization that starts at the top and trickles down.
